Tech Corner: May The Fourth Be With You

It is time to kick off one of the most nerdy and wonderful weekends. We start it off today, May 2nd, celebrating International Space Day; keep it going tomorrow, May 3rd, with Free Comic Book Day and ending it on May 4th with the one and only Intergalactic Star Wars Day… also known as May The Fourth Be With You! Needless to say, we are excited!

Before we update you on some tech news, we want to briefly mention the Star Wars Episode VII casting news that was announced the beginning of this week. This production update allowed us all to rest easily now that we know for sure neither Justin Bieber nor Selena Gomez will not have any part in the movie. The cast from the original trilogy will be making a return, and will be joined by new faces such as Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings), Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter), and Adam Driver (Girls)… just to name a few. As nervous as a majority of fans were about Disney buying out LucasFilms, we feel a safety with this casting news.

Now for some Tech News!: Another thing announced this week is the iPhone 6. It has not been officially announced by Apple what the features or looks of it will be like. The leaked rumors include a bigger screen, power button on the side, LED screen and flash; the edges of this model will be rounded, allowing for a better grip on the phone and will be operated with iOS 8. These minor changes are acceptable, but can we collectively agree that Apple should consider making the newer iPhone screen crack-proof and waterproof? There is not too much known about what iOS 8’s updates will be, but an improvement on the Apple maps would be a plus.

Apple is also rumored too join the Smart Watches community. iWatch will run on the iOS 8 software and will be accessible with other iOS devices. The iWatch will track health-related metrics such as steps taken, heart rate, calories burned and sleep quality, as well as play music and send your notifications.
