Tech Corner: Amazon and Brita Create a Wi-Fi Pitcher

While creating a smart home would be ideal, not all of us could go out and afford a huge system installment to add to our homes. Instead, we opt for little smart devices that are cheaper and paired with an app or website. Hence, why we are so excited to talk about Amazon and Brita teaming up to create a Wi-Fi pitcher.

We have mentioned in a previous Tech Corner blog the Amazon Dash button, which is basically a button that automatically reorders a specific product you are running low on through Amazon Prime, with just one simple click of the button! The second these buttons were revealed, they were automatically labeled smart appliances. Now, Amazon has paired its services with Brita! Available now, Brita is selling a sensor-filled Wi-Fi connected pitcher that will work with the Dash Replenishment Services to reorder new filters.

Amazon and Brita

This pitcher is called the Brita Infinity Pitcher. After approximately 40 gallons of water passed through the filter, the pitcher will then send a signal to the Dash Replenishment Service to reorder more filters. This makes forgetting when to buy the next filter a thing of the past! The Brita Infinity Pitcher is BPA-free and costs $44.95 on Amazon. The filters come in a three pack and cost up to $20. The two lithium metal non-rechargeable batteries should last up to five years, even when stored in a cold environment.

The Brita Infinity pitcher is the first connected water filtration product the company has released. They have offered products with electron filter indicators but not anything that would send out a signal to a compatible software. As for Amazon, the Brita pitcher is one of the more accessible consumer products that work with the Dash Replenishment Service. Once services officially launch, partners like Whirlpool and General Electric will announce selected products that will also work with the service.
