Tech Corner: Made By Google i/O Breakdown!

The Made By Google event happened on October 4th, giving us all a Tuesday to look forward to, and sure did it succeed that! The event was filled with the announcement of many new products, including stuff for your home, and tons of jokes punching disses towards Apple.

Google Assistant: With the built-in software and hardware working together created Google’s best experience around AI: Artifical Intelligence, with a 4.3% improvement (93.9% learning rate). The digital personal assistant will be available to the user, learning more about them and updating itself to better assist you, the user.

Pixel: Google’s new smartphone is Pixel, Google’s first smartphone with Google Assistant built-in. The Pixel combines hardware and software, all made by Google, including some of your favorite Google apps, to bring you a fast, seamless, and easy-to-use experience on your smartphone. Pixel comes in two sizes: 5” and 5.5”, and three different colors: Quite Black, Very Silver, and Really Blue. The phone can be purchased on either the Google Store or Verizon store, their carrier partner

Google Home: Google Home is a voice-activated speaker powered by Google Assistant. It is your very own Google, always ready to help just by starting it up with saying “OK Google”.

Thanks to the updates for Google Assistant and the Google history and knowledge in your searches, Google Home is ready for any questions. You will get real-time answers including the weather, traffic, finance, sports, local business, and more. And with your permission, Google Home will learn more about your and become more personal, being able to retrieve flight information, set alarms, and timers, and even tell you about the traffic to your next destination.

Google Home will also connect to smart products, such as your Nest, Phillips Hue, and Chromecast, allowing you to control each of these items with voice control. To keep it home-friendly, the base is available in seven different colors, allowing them to fit in any space and decor of the room. You can even get multiple Google Home devices, group them together, this way one song is playing in every room the base is in. There is also a mute button that lets you put Google Home’s microphone on standby. For the multiple Google Home’s, only the Home closest to your will answer you based on your voice volume and distance to it. This way, you do not have to worry about all of them answering you at once.
