Our parents always warned us that one day we will have to take care of them. Do not stress daily wondering if your mom and dad took their medicine. These days, we have the technology for that! Even smart home appliances that can help!

Hero: This smart appliance stores, dispenses, and manages pills for you and your loved ones. Hero is a startup is based in New York City. They basically reinvented the medicine cabinet.

Hero will replace those chunky pill bottles and plastic organizers with a high-tech home appliance that is easy to load. It is designed to store 10 different types and sized pills, vitamins, and health supplements. You can program who needs to take the assigned pill and what time. Hero will then dispense the required medicine based on the time you need to take it and the dosage.

All this can be managed through the screen on the device, or from the smartphone app. The app will even alert you when one of your family members took their scheduled dosage, or when they did not.

Silver Mother: Silver Mother is a device that monitors your senior parents. It comes with four “motion cookies”. These cookies are basically tabs you attach to common household objects and program to monitor whatever you need: Monitor pillboxes or bottles, daily living habits, sleep quality, water drinking habits, Track the front door, and even Record temperature of the home that is being monitored.

If a “cookie” tab was not picked up at a certain time of day, you will receive immediate alerts when a cause for concern is detected. Family members and caregivers can remotely log onto the app and track your parents’ schedule and everyday activities, continuously monitoring their safety and health.
