Tech Corner: Learning Code with Star Wars!

Catch up to the digital age by learning the handiest skill there is to have today: coding! And what better way to learn than by using a Star Wars themed tutorial.

We first discussed how girls can learn to code using the Jewel Bots bracelet. Now, we can learn from the women of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. Code.org and Lucasfilms joined forces to create a fun way to teach people how to learn how to write code. This Star Wars themed tutorial features Princess Leia and Rey, the mysterious scavenger who will guide you through an adventure of challenges and games all while learning the new language.

Along the way, you will find characters such as BB-8, R2-D2, and C-3PO. You will be able to play these games on your computer or phone.

“Computer science has helped shape our legacy and changed the way movies are made, which is why programs like the Hour of Code are so important to us.” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Every one of us, especially young boys and girls, should also have the chance to learn how to power our own creativity with computer science,” Hadi Partovi, co-founder and CEO of Code.org added in the press release about this game.

The tutorial will be available on December 7th, just about 11 days before the film is released worldwide!
